This large 15" wooden bowl is made to anchor a table. It’s generous without being bulky—big enough for a family-style salad or a mountain of roasted vegetables. When it’s not filled with food, some folks use it to gather seasonal fruit, decorate a kitchen island, or let it sit by itself in the center of the table.
The wood comes from Ambrosia maple, a pale hardwood streaked with smoky grays and browns. Those streaks are left behind by the Ambrosia beetle, which creates natural markings as it moves through the tree.
This bowl is turned by hand in our New England workshop. It’s shaped slowly on the lathe, sanded smooth, and finished with a food-safe oil that brings out the grain and protects the surface. You won’t find two exactly alike.

*Common mistakes include letting old fruit and vegetables rot at the bottom of a bowl (this may stain) or putting wood in the oven.
