Sori Yanagi (柳宗理) – Japanese Industrial Designer
Sori Yanagi is a key figure in modern Japanese design, known for seamlessly blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary industrial design. His most iconic creation, the "Butterfly Stool", won the Gold Prize at the Milan Triennial and is featured in MoMA’s permanent collection. Yanagi’s work spans furniture, kitchenware, and tableware, emphasizing simplicity, functionality, and timeless beauty. As director of the Japan Folk Crafts Museum, he played a vital role in preserving and promoting Japan’s design heritage. Honored as a Person of Cultural Merit in 2002, his influence continues to shape design worldwide
